HISTORY

Scott Chrstie, R.P.Bio, created Foreshore Technologies Inc. in 1984. The environmental aspect of Foreshore was registered as a separate company called Balanced Environmental Services Inc. in 2002.

Balanced has several Qualified Environmental Professionals on staff with experience in obtaining project approvals. Staff are experienced in the identification of critical habitat marine species such as Bull Kelp, Eelgrass, and Lyngbyei Sedge. Our field techniques are approved by Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Environment Canada and the Ministry of Environment. Baseline field data collected also includes the collection and characterization of sediment samples which can be compared against Disposal at Sea criteria or Upland Disposal Criteria set out in the Contaminated Sites Regulation. Results are typically characterized in an impact assessment or environmental assessment that meets the requirements of local governments and funding agencies. Many of the application forms are listed on the FrontCounterBC website, including Water Lot Applications. Water Act approvals are also obtained by similar process.
